California Executions Resuming?

Not very soon, according to this article from the Contra Costa Times. It will likely be years instead of months, according to many in the know.

I tend to lean fairly strong against the death penalty and voted for Prop 34 last election which would have replaced it with life without parole. However, that the application of the death penalty is being held up due to quibbling over its method- lethal injection, specifically- is nothing short of ridiculous.

Couldn't we just have inmates lie down on a cement slab, then drop a 10 ton cement cube onto them? No pain. No torture. A quick death.

Televise it. We'll either see an outcry for the end to capital punishment, or a new hit show on our hands.

Hey, they could just go back to lopping off heads. Seriously. If you're worried about suffering, they wouldn't feel a thing if the just went back to doing it as they did back in the day.

I've always felt they should make executions public so folks can actually see what they're being a part of.

"Henchman Of Justice" says,

The death penalty works out when the guilty die; yet, the problem is that many elected officals are more crooks than the crooks they help to imprison. It is a toss-up in that innocent people have surly died by execution. Personally, with technology and all, it should be less of a concern that the wrong person is convicted and sentenced. Hopefully, one day, an island will harbor all the worst criminals society has to offer; then, they'll just kill each other or learn how to be better members in their "Australian environment". - HOJ
