Not The D.A.'s Business
I seem to be the only one that thinks district attorney investigator Mike Hislop is a bit out of line in taking over the cold case file of a woman who disappeared from the Honeydew area back in the '70s. It seems to me that the D.A.'s office, including its investigators, should be dealing with relatively recent crimes that are being prosecuted or investigating potentially prosecutable cases. Decades old cases where the main- and likely only- suspect is dead don't count.
If he wants to investigate cold- case files on his own time, like that retired guy the Times- Standard reported on a while back, that's fine with me, but not on the county's time.

I totally agree Fred. Hislop is actually only in this to make himself look better and to shore up the lagging support for his boss. You spend your time on prosecutable cases. Not those over 30 years old where the suspect is dead.
But Fred, I really doubt they are actually doing anything here. It is probably all hype for the press.
I would prefer that they do their jobs regarding pending cases and quit reducing murder charges to involuntary manslaughter which seems to be the trend lately. And a real dangerous one to boot.
Fred, I dare you to go to the board of supervisors meeting and say this.
Nah. No Supes meeting for me. I'd have to go through the hassle of the metal detectors. Did that Monday. Once a year is enough for me.
Actually they are doing something. I just saw 2 DA officers in the Petrolia store investigating the missing woman and her 2 children.
Yes Fred, because a guy who can't even run a succesful lawn care business knows all about what crimes should and should not be investigated.
Oooh, it's just like the tv show. So much better than the boring caseload of stabbers and molesters and whatnot. I'm sure the D.A.'s Nielson ratings will go up.

Yep. I think it's also part of Hislop's apparent delusions of grandeur. Wasn't it his idea that D.A. investigators should carry AR15s and have a mobile command center?
He's using the D.A.'s office to create his own little police force and getting involved in cases like this helps create the delusion that he's the boss of a dynamic tv style law enforcement agency. Something he couldn't be as a traffic cop in Eureka.

1:54 is spot on. Even the disfunctional group at Eureka PD was HAPPY! to see Hislop go. He is a deeply disturbed person. Someone who should not be in a position of any authority. When this joke (DA) is gone, Hislop will also be gone. He will then be a bad security or prison guard. No one will miss him.
You seem to have an interest in shutting this case down. Why?
You obviously can't understand that some don't feel this case shouldn't be under the purview of an investigator for the District Attorney's office. I won't bother trying to explain since you probably won't understand after all that's already been said.
